To be eligible to trial your club must nominate you through your Netball Centre by the closing date each year. All players need to be aware that they will be required to pass a fitness test at the final trials. Please note: To be eligible for any development and representative programmes (with the exception of the NetSkills Academy), a player must be affiliated member of a netball club that plays within the Counties Manukau region. Find out about how our Representative Programme works. .. Netball Counties Manukau Region runs a regional high performance programme that includes Senior, U21, U19 and U17 teams that compete in their respective National Championships each year. Players are drawn from around the region to make up these representative teams. An extensive pre-season programme is put together for each age group and eligible players meet regularly prior to the teams being chosen to build their skills and fitness. The U15/U17 development programme offered includes specialised netball sessions where players are put through their paces in the off-season with specialist coaches and guest speakers. This programme is run by the Region and players from Centre rep teams are invited each year to participate and make the final squad. Regional Talent Development Programme – Sunday 25 March 2012 Netball NZ have changed the format for what was previously known as the NZTD programme. It is now the Regions responsibility to run this programme and it will be held earlier in the year as opposed to November when it has previously been held. The Region will invite players and umpires to attend this programme, which is being held on Sunday 25 March 2012 at Papatoetoe High School. The Talent Development Programme is an exciting opportunity for players and umpires to learn and experience the principles of high performance netball. It is envisaged at the completion of the programme participants will have gained an insight into the commitment and skills required to perform at an elite level. The challenge for players and umpires will be applying what they have learnt and then implementing it into their everyday life. A Netball New Zealand Emerging Talent Selector will be attending the programme as part of their role to identify talent. Identified players will be tracked through the 2012 netball season before a final selection is made in early September for players to attend the National camp, December 2012. Umpires will also take part in the programme and there will a Netball NZ Panel Member present throughout the day, selecting umpires for the NZU19 Umpire Squad. Club, School and Centre Rep Coaches will be invited to attend in an observation role. For more details, contact Tania Heap, devofficer@netballcm.org.nz To find out more?
