Our Netball Centres offer development programmes for players, coaches and umpires each season. The Centres also have Representative Teams from Year 7 through to U17 age groups. Some Centres also include an U19 Representative Team. This is separate to the Counties Manukau Representative Teams that include U17, U19, U21 & Senior grades. Page 2 High Performance Programme (Player) shows the player pathway offered within the Counties Manukau region. Each Centre offers Social Leagues over the summer months, these include mixed team competitions. HOWICK PAKURANGA NETBALL CENTRE Winter season commences just after Easter and finishes just before the end of Term 3. A Prizegiving is held at the end of each season to celebrate the successes of clubs and representative players. The centre has 18 courts and has in excess of 250 teams playing netball each Saturday. It is the largest Centre within Netball Counties Manukau. Fun Ferns is run each Monday afternoon in season for ages 6-9 years, older children we encourage to join clubs. MANGERE OTAHUHU NETBALL CENTRE The winter season begins mid March and runs through until mid August. Mangere Otahuhu caters for players from Junior ages through to Senior grades. They also offer a mixed grade within their competition. The centre is situated in the middle of Mangere and caters for the whole community by offering a number of social tournaments throughout the season. NETBALL MANUREWA Winter season runs from late April to mid August, and caters for players 4 years and over. Grades include Midget, Primary, Intermediate, Collegiate and Senior. An end of season Prizegiving is held for its clubs and a Netball Excellence Awards evening is held in August each year to celebrate the successes and work of its members and volunteers. PAPAKURA NETBALL CENTRE The winter season generally begins late March/early February and runs through until the end of August. Saturday competition caters for Future Fern through to Senior Grades. A Fun Ferns competition is run on a Wednesday night and caters for children from 5 years old. Papakura has 27 courts and hosts a preseason Premier Tournament for local teams. A Junior & Collegiate Prizegiving is held for its players at the end of each season. PUKEKOHE NETBALL CENTRE Winter season runs from April to September, and caters for players 7 years and over. Grades go from Future Ferns through to the Premier competitions. Pukekohe has 15 courts finished with Astroturf surface. Each year they host a Counties Power Representative Tournament that attracts over 60 teams from the Northern Region. WAIUKU NETBALL CENTRE The winter season begins in the first week of Term 2 each year and generally runs for 15 weeks, dependant on team numbers. A Fun Ferns (ages 5-9 years) is run on a Friday night within the season. On a Saturday, Waiuku’s competition caters for players from 9 years old through to Senior. One of its largest grades is the secondary school competition. Other highlights include the annual trip to the Rotorua Tournament that the Senior teams enter each year. |
